From the historic Trastevere to the artsy Rione Monti ending in the hip Pigneto

Vintage lovers always end in Via del Governo Vecchio which boasts historic shops and is located in the heart of the center. However, the city offers many more beautiful but also unique and hidden stores. ShopAround leads you to discover them in order to unravel the city from a different point of view!

Vintage in Trastevere

Let’s start from the historic district of Trastevere. How can you bighten your morning if not with a great breakfast at the bar San Calisto? Surrounded by the real “trasteverini” (its inhabitants), you will surely hear Roman speaking and see people gesticulate as Italians do.

Now, dive in vintage beginning with Twice. Its up to date and trendy stock goes from clothing to a wide range of shoes and a good dose of sportswear. Afterwards, move towards Piazza Trilussa. Frankestein Shop is a small boutique where you can find special designer’s or handmade clothing and accessories.

Vintage in Rione Monti

Let’s now go to Rione Monti, just over the Coliseum, where you can feel an artsy vibe all around. To begin with, stop by Humana, in via Cavour, that offers guilt free spending. Its low-cost but quality stock is brilliantly displayed and, in addition, if you buy you support a charity organization spread around the world. Then again, walk down Via Cavour and take the steps towards Via Leonina where you will find King Size. This well-assorted store for him and for her offers items from the 40’s to the first half of the 90’s.

It’s finally time for lunch, so take a short walk to Al tettarello, a typical and delicious roman trattoria. Now that your stomach is full take a walk back to the beautiful Piazza della Madonna dei Monti. Closeby you will find the best vintage in town, without a doubt. Pifebo, in Via dei Serpenti, has outstanding quality. In the two stores both men and women can dress vintage from head to toe, ranging from the Sixties to the Eighties. In case you haven’t had enough, take Via del Boschetto where you will find three more gems. Flamingo Vintage, for polished and high-quality outfits. Pulp, for funkier clothes. Fabio Piccioni, for vintage and handmade jewelry. And finally Blue Goose, for super designer vintage (Chanel, Dior…).

Vintage in Pigneto

Now you have two choices. 1) Stop for the aperitivo Ai tre scalini. 2) Move on to the hip and punk Pigneto area. Want to see a secondhand store where only locals buy? Then go to Mackie Messer, in Via Braccio da Montone, that has an accurate selection and is worth especially for coats and jackets. Finally, I suggest you dine at ‘Na Cosetta, a colored and cozy bistrot with live music and vintage furniture. Perfect indeed to end this day!
